Desoto Mayor Rachel Proctor has announced new initiatives focused on promoting healthy food options and community development in Desoto.

Partnering with Salata, a renowned built-to-order salad kitchen brand, Proctor has signed a franchise agreement to establish three locations in the region, including Midlothian, Waxahachie, and the upcoming Desoto site.

“Salata was the one that continued to rise to the top, and so we’re excited to be able to bring that healthy option to our communities,” said Proctor.

The franchise agreement reflects the mayor’s commitment to fostering healthier lifestyles and addressing the community’s nutritional needs.

“Salata has become a leading presence in the salad industry, largely due to our strategic growth with individuals like Rachel,” said Julie Davis, VP of Franchise Development at Salata.

“Her background in business ownership combined with her commitment to bettering her community makes her an ideal Salata franchisee, and our Home Office team is thrilled that she is joining our brand.”

The built-to-order salad kitchen offers a unique dining experience, allowing guests to customize and create meals tailored to their individual preferences and dietary requirements.

The new locations in Midlothian and Waxahachie, along with the forthcoming Desoto establishment, will contribute to the economic development and growth of the region.

These salad kitchens will not only serve as dining destinations but also create job opportunities within the community.

The franchise agreement shows commitment to community development, leveraging partnerships that foster entrepreneurship and local investment.

By attracting reputable brands to the area, Proctor is actively enhancing the region’s economic landscape and providing residents with diverse choices for dining and employment.

The initiative also aligns with broader efforts to promote a culture of wellness and healthy living and recognize the impact of nutrition on overall community well-being.

More availability of nutritious food options will contribute to improved health outcomes for residents.

“DeSoto has been my home for all my life, and I am always looking for ways to enhance the community,” said Proctor.

“In conversations with our community members, it was clear that people were looking for healthier food options that were closer to home. I have been a guest at Salata locations for years, and have a passion for health and wellness in general, so I know the brand will be a wonderful addition to Midlothian, Waxahachie, and eventually DeSoto. The Salata team has been a pleasure to work with, and the brand’s extensive support and operations systems have made for a seamless development process thus far. I am thrilled to be bringing such a great restaurant to Midlothian first, and look forward to the location’s opening in 2023.”Top of Form
