DeSoto residents, mark your calendars for September 9th, as the city will be celebrating Corey Borner Day.
Zeiger Park will be transformed into a hub of excitement from 11 AM to 4 PM.
From free delectable food (while supplies last) to thrilling bounce houses and challenging obstacle courses, the event promises a day of unforgettable fun for everyone in the community.
The event will be hosted by radio and TV personality J Kruz of DeDe in the Morning from K104 Dallas, along with DJ Red the MC, delivering good and vibrant music.
Borner, a graduate of DeSoto High School in 2011, gained nationwide recognition for his efforts to walk again after suffering a horrendous high school football injury in 2009.
In a Spring football practice in 2009, Borner went in for a tackle and never got up.
It was revealed that he suffered from paralysis after injuring his C5-C6 vertebra in his spinal cord.
Borner would be paralyzed from the waist down and had to relearn life from a wheelchair.
He went on to become a motivational speaker and graduated from the University of North Texas.
Borner would also go on to take his first steps since his injury in 2009 at the Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation in June 2021.
