Temperatures soared, and so did the DeSoto Eagles after defeating the South Oak Cliff Golden Bears 54-14 in the clash of champions.
However, the game was called early with more than six minutes left in the fourth quarter due to unconfirmed reports of a shooting incident.
A fight did break out in the stands on the DeSoto side, and panic ensued as crowds on both sides of the field exited the stadium.
DeSoto was off for more than two weeks, but it didn’t matter, as the Eagles dominated the entire game from start to finish.

By the close of the first quarter, DeSoto took a commanding 26-0 lead.
The Eagles would then wrap up a 10-play, 63-yard drive with a 5-yard TD run by senior running back Jaden Trawick.
Early in the second quarter, DJ Bailey unleashed a deep pass, connecting with freshman receiver Ethan Feaster for a dazzling 58-yard TD.
But Bailey wasn’t finished; he threw his fourth TD pass, this time to Antonio Pride Jr. from 43 yards out.
The Eagles would pad the lead, as Pride scored on a two-point conversion pass to Jamari Laye, widening the gap to 40-0 with just 6:47 remaining in the first half.
DeSoto’s offensive prowess didn’t waver, securing their seventh TD on the seventh series with a 34-yard burst by senior Marvin Duffey.
The reigning Class 6A Division II champion Eagles (2-0) demonstrated their dominance with an impressive 488 yards of total offense in the opening half.
The defending 5A DII champion Bears (1-2) did score in the second half when Quarterback Carter Kopecky found Trey Jackson for a 53-yard TD.
