DeSoto Mayor Declares Clean Energy Week in City Proclamation

DeSoto Mayor Rachel L. Proctor is proclaiming the week of Sept. 25-29 as National Clean Energy Week for the city.

On Tuesday, Sept. 26, the city posted the proclamation on its website.

Texas, often hailed for its dominance in the fossil fuel industry, is making impressive strides in the renewable energy sector.

The Lone Star State, blessed with abundant sunshine and vast landscapes, has emerged as a national leader in solar energy production.

Texas ranks number one among the states in the United States for solar power capacity, according to QuickElectricity.com.

The state is also the top crude oil and natural gas producer in the nation, and in 2022, Texas accounted for 42% of the nation’s crude oil production and 27% of its marketed natural gas production, according to The U.S. Energy Information Administration.

This achievement can be attributed to the state’s commitment to diversifying its energy mix and embracing cleaner alternatives.

With a booming population and rising energy demand, Texas recognizes the importance of sustainable solutions.

The state has witnessed a surge in solar power projects, from large-scale solar farms to residential rooftop installations.

These projects not only contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions but also create jobs and bolster the local economy.

DeSoto is a city on the move yet again, bolstering great schools, parks, a growing number of businesses, and ideal neighborhoods for families and professionals.

According to BestPlaces.net, DeSoto is one of the best places to live in Dallas County.

“The clean energy sector is a key driver of economic growth in the city of DeSoto, with scores of new jobs being added to the industry every year that cannot be outsourced due to the on-site nature of construction, installation, maintenance,” said Proctor in the proclamation.
