City of DeSoto to Begin Search Process for New City Manager

DeSoto is searching for a new city manager after current city manager, Brandon Wright, resigned from his post to accept the new town manager position in Trophy Club, Texas.

Wright has been the city manager for three years, since March 2020, and has been an integral part of implementing the rebranding of DeSoto.

He has helped the city reclassify new career positions that the city uses to seek to attract high-level talent, as well as instituting new pay structures.

This is especially noted for DeSoto’s Firefighters and Police Officers.

“Brandon came to DeSoto at a difficult and pivotal time in our city’s history, and we are thankful for his steady stewardship and the significant contributions he has made to the betterment of our city,” said DeSoto Mayor Rachel Proctor.

“We will sincerely miss Brandon and will work hard and engage a recruitment firm to find a new city manager who can have as much positive influence on our city as Brandon has had during his time in DeSoto.”

Discussions of Wright’s replacement will take place at the next city council meeting on Oct. 17.

The council will also begin the process of selecting an interim city manager to fill Wright’s position.

“I have truly enjoyed this opportunity working closely with the city council, employees, and community to make DeSoto a great place for our residents, businesses, and visitors,” said Wright.

“DeSoto is a city with ‘So Much to Love,’ and I am grateful to the City Council for their trust and support as we have worked together to build a stronger community.”

Wright’s last day on the job in the city will be December 8.

Don’t miss out!
