Under the Friday night lights and clear skies in Texas, the DeSoto Eagles (6-0) (4-0) soared above the competition as they continued to dominate their district.
From start to finish, DeSoto dominated Mansfield Lakeridge at home for homecoming, defeating the Eagles 64-3.
Just as DeSoto did last week against Mansfield Legacy, the Eagles scored 64 against their opponent to stay undefeated on the season.
On their first drive, DeSoto drove down the field on a 42-yard pass from quarterback DJ Baily to wideout Antonio Pride.
Just a few plays later, DeSoto would score on a 26-yard run by Marvin Duffey for the first score of the game.
It was just the first of many in an onslaught of scores by DeSoto.
By halftime, DeSoto led Lakeridge 36-0.
Baily finished the game, completing 15 of 23 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns.
DeSoto’s rushing attack was without Deandre Riden Jr. as he continues to recover from a previous injury, but it was no problem as the Eagles rushed for 373 yards.
Duffey had a tremendous game leading the way, carrying the ball 13 times for 166 yards and three scores, followed by Jakyree Washington.
Washington carried the ball nine times for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Jaylin Jones also contributed carrying the ball twice for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Lakeridge didn’t have an answer for DeSoto’s ground game or air attack as receiver Daylon Singleton went off for 121 yards on just five catches with three scores.
DeSoto amassed 620 total yards against Lakeridge for their homecoming game.
The Eagles remain unbeaten in district play and have defeated their last two opponents by a combined score of 128-6.
The defense for DeSoto remains a force to be reckoned with, as they have held opposing teams to a combined score of just 79 points.
Next up, DeSoto will travel to Cedar Hill to take on cross town rival the Cedar Hill Longhorns (3-4) (2-2) in the Battle of Beltline.
