The iconic, legendary model and fashion pioneer Bethann Hardison is being awarded the Lifetime Legacy Award at Fashion Group International of Dallas’s annual Night of Stars Gala.
Slated to take place Nov. 10 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dallas, the renowned and Iconic model Tyson Beckford will present the award to Hardison for her historic achievements.
“Well, you know I get a lot of awards, so I’m always happy to get any award. I think that you know the fact is that people remember you and regard you and respect and want to support the work you did by showing others that they recognize you. I think it’s always so wonderful,” said Hardison.
Having known Fashion Group International from her time in New York and being familiar with the Dallas chapter, Hardison considers it an honor, praising the organization’s commitment and the support it provides.
While in town to accept the prestigious award, Hardison also traveled a short distance to Violet Crown Cinema in the West Village for the screening of her highly acclaimed documentary, “Invisible Beauty,” which took place on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
The documentary delves into Hardison’s life, covering everything from her childhood to her advocacy work.
“I’ve always wanted to make a documentary because that seems to be the stories that you want to capture. I believe documentaries are the new form of news,” said Hardison.
Hardison’s life and legacy are forever enshrined, as evident in her son, the work she has accomplished, and the advocacy that forever changed the fashion world.
Having witnessed injustice and inaction throughout her career, Hardison continues to use her voice to inspire younger generations to enact meaningful and positive change.
“I say to them all vote!”
“That’s all you need to do,” said Hardison.
“Everybody can’t go out there and become a leader and start swinging bats, I didn’t do that, you know I carried a big stick, but it was a soft approach because I believed in who I was talking to.”
