DFW to see Record Number of Travelers During Holidays

Thanksgiving is just a week away, and the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is gearing up to see a record increase in travelers this holiday season.

DFW expects this season to be one of the airport’s busiest travel seasons on record.

Expecting to welcome 2.9 million customers between Nov. 16 and Nov. 28 for the Thanksgiving travel period.

And expecting to see more than 241,000 customers travel on Nov. 19.

However, the busiest day for travel is Sunday, Nov. 26, as DFW is expected to see more than 249,000 customers travel.

During the holiday travel seasons, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year are the busiest times for travel.

Between Dec. 14. And Jan. 2., DFW is expecting to see 4.5 million customers travel through the airport.

The busiest days during this time are projected to be Friday, Dec. 22, with over 245,000 travelers, Friday, Dec. 15, with more than 243,000, and Thursday, Dec. 21, with over 241,000 passengers.

With the DFW Airport expecting a total of 7.4 million passengers to welcome during these two-holiday travel windows, it marks a 6.4 percent increase compared to the travel periods last year.

“DFW Airport is eager and ready to greet our Thanksgiving and winter holiday customers. As we demonstrated over the summer – which was the busiest on record – we have an efficient and helpful staff that will focus on providing an exceptional experience for our guests,” said Ken Buchanan, Executive Vice President of Customer Experience and Revenue Management.

Buchanan recommends that travelers should be prepared for the holiday rush and visit the DFW Airport website or download the mobile app before heading to the airport.

Airports are pretty busy during the holidays as several million people travel every year by air transport, and the DFW Airport is one of the busiest in the nation.

For each Friday in December during the busy holiday travel season, the airport is hosting Festive Fridays, featuring live local musical groups and artists inside the terminals.
