The Dallas Cowboys fired on both sides of the ball on all cylinders as they defeated the Washington Commanders on Thanksgiving in a blowout win 45-10.
Multiple Cowboys reached the endzone, including a historic pick-six by cornerback Daron Bland, who scored his fifth touchdown this season off of an interception.
With Bland’s fifth pick six, he now holds the NFL single season record for most interceptions with returned touchdowns.
It was the Cowboys 13th straight home win and extended their longest home winning streak in 42 years.
The crowd at AT&T Stadium was already elated with the score, but when Bland picked off Commander’s quarterback, Sam Howell, the crowd and the Cowboys sideline erupted in cheer.
“That’s a big moment. Let’s be honest. The sideline erupted,” McCarthy said to reporters after the game.
“It’s good to celebrate, and you need to. You need to smell the roses when you walk through the garden, as our guys did today. Because when you’re on the other side, it’s hard.”
The interception interrupted Prescott from eating a turkey leg on the sideline.
“Didn’t see him initially pick it, but I just heard the crowd erupt, looked up and saw 26 had the ball in his hands,” Prescott said. “At that point, I just sprinted to the sideline to get a good view.”
Prescott finished the game with four touchdowns and 331 yards passing.
CeeDee Lamb, Rico Dowdle, Brandin Cooks, and KaVontae Turpin all wound up with touchdown scores from Prescott.
According to Schuyler Dixon from the AP, the Cowboys were the first team since the 1990 Miami Dolphins to play 10 games in a season without allowing a 100-yard rusher, 100-yard receiver, and 300-yard passer.
Cowboys host the Seattle Seahawks next Thursday at home.
