A man is back in custody after law enforcement officials say the suspect escaped while being transported to a nearby jail on Thanksgiving Day.
Law enforcement from Duncanville, Cedar Hill, and DeSoto collaborated to apprehend a suspect who escaped custody during transportation to the DeSoto Regional Jail, according to a news release.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23, when Duncanville Police were transporting the suspect.
Jonathan Paul Harlan, 31, was being transferred to DeSoto Regional Jail when he escaped the transport and was last seen running into a field north of the DeSoto Police Department.
Police said Harlan was still in a hospital gown and handcuffed when he fled the scene into the field.
It is still unclear as to how Harlan initially escaped custody, and police have not released information on what events led to Harlan escaping.
The DeSoto Tribune reached out to the Duncanville Police Department for further information but did not readily respond to a request for comment by the time of publication.
The DeSoto Police Department, Wilmer Police K9, Cedar Hill Police K9 and Lancaster Police K9 worked in collaboration to capture the suspect successfully.
