The Eagles are soaring high above the clouds yet again, this time defeating Willis High School 65-31 at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio.

Both teams came into the match-up undefeated, Willis at (12-0) and DeSoto at (11-0), with the Eagles as the favorite.

Just a year ago, the Wildkats went (5-5) and did not make the playoffs.

This year, Willis went undefeated in a remarkable turnaround, blowing out almost all of their opponents.

But DeSoto is THAT team and has been all season long, proving critics wrong at every turn.

The Eagle’s running game could not be stopped as DeSoto garnered nearly 500 yards on the ground.

Four different running backs for DeSoto reached the endzone on the ground, including star quarterback DJ Bailey.

Senior running back Marvin Duffey carried the ball 13 times for 140 yards and a touchdown.

Duffey scored on a seven-yard run to give the Eagles the lead early in the game, 10-7.

Willis kept the game close towards the end of the first half, but DeSoto scored twice, once on a nine-yard pass to wideout Antonio Pride Jr. from Bailey to make 24-17.

The other, on a Deondrae Riden Jr. 19-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles 31.

Pride Jr. finished the game hauling in seven receptions for 95 yards and exploding for three touchdowns.

The four-star-rated running back Riden Jr. finished the game with 147 yards and a touchdown on 20 attempts.

The score was 31-17 at the half.

DeSoto pulled away from Willis in the second half, scoring five times in the second half to route the Wildkats 65-31.

Bailey finished the game, completing 15 of 20 passes for 137 yards and a four-touchdown night.

The Eagles amassed a total of 613 yards offensively in the battle of unbeatens.

DeSoto’s defense continues to be a problem for opposing teams, as they made the Wildkats turn the ball over twice in the win.

The Eagle’s defense has never allowed an opponent to score more than 35 points in a game this season.

Since the playoffs began, DeSoto has outscored their opponents 157-61.

Up next for the Eagles will be cross-town rival the Cedar Hill Longhorns in the Battle of Beltline II on Friday, Dec.1, at Kincaide Stadium.

Kickoff for the game is at 7 p.m.
