Light Up DeSoto Awards Celebrate Festive Holiday Displays

DeSoto residents spreading cheer during the holidays with displays of Christmas lights can look forward to city recognition as the city of DeSoto will be hosting the Light Up DeSoto Awards.

The City of DeSoto is looking to recognize its residents for remarkable holiday lighting displays during the Light Up DeSoto Awards.

To be eligible to receive the award, residents will have to decorate their homes and have the lights on during the weekend of Dec. 2 and 3.

City Councilmembers will judge the event by riding through residential streets in their districts.

The neighborhood that has the best entry display will be awarded the Mayor’s Award, presented by Mayor Proctor.

The winners will be announced at the next city council meeting on Dec. 5.

Each winner will have a yard sign placed in their yard by city staff and will remain until the end of the holiday season.
