NFL star linebacker and DeSoto native Von Miller was released on bond from the DeSoto Regional Jail after turning himself in to Glenn Heights Police Thursday evening.
Miller turned himself in to the Glenn Heights Police Department at around 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
According to a news release, Miller, who plays for the Buffalo Bills, bonded out of the DeSoto Regional Jail after posting a $5,000 surety bond early Thursday evening.
Miller was booked into jail after he turned himself in on Thursday in response to a domestic violence warrant issued by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
The Glenn Heights Police Department issued a statement early Thursday evening following Miller’s arrest and booking.
“Von Miller turned himself in today at the Glenn Heights Police Department on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, the statement reads.
“Mr. Miller was transported to the DeSoto Regional Jail where he was booked in without incident, posted bond, and released.”
Miller, who is now in his second season with the Buffalo Bills, is accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend at their high-rise apartment in Dallas, according to local news source WFAA.
Glenn Heights Police Chief Nick Bristow confirmed to The DeSoto Tribune that Miller was taken into custody related to an arrest warrant for Assault-Pregnant Person.
Assault of a pregnant person is a third-degree felony, according to the Texas Penal Code.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that the Bills front office released a statement about Miller and the alleged incident.
“This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point.”
Miller previously played for the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, where he helped win a Super Bowl title and was a star in Denver, leading the Broncos to a Super Bowl victory in 2015.
