It started off as a Facebook post from her neighbor Jose, but María De Los Ángeles Ramirez De Gonzalez, 70, didn’t think she would receive help and support fixing her front porch.
It’s not often you see neighbors helping neighbors anymore, but Ethan Williams, founder of Hood 2 Hood Racing, partnered with Brandon Weedle from Next Level Roofing and Outdoor Living to build Gonzalez a new handicap ramp.
“So, what’s crazy is it was a post shared by their neighbor Jose, looking for help, and then I shared it in the racing group. Brandon said, ‘Hey, let’s come together and do this together,’” said Williams.
Williams explained that after some time, more racers donated to the worthy cause.
“Racers donated funds, and Brandon Weedle and his crew volunteered labor and crew to build a new porch and handicap ramp,” added Williams.
Gonzalez, a long-time resident of the neighborhood, had been grappling with structural issues on her porch for some time.
Recognizing the need for assistance, Williams and Weedle, along with members from the racing community, offered to help.
Volunteers and resources were given to construct a new porch for Gonzalez.
This thoughtful act not only enhances the safety and aesthetics of Gonzalez’s property but also underscores the positive outcomes achievable through community engagement.
The effort exemplifies the impact of charitable initiatives, particularly during the holiday season.
