DeSoto Honors Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day

On Monday Cities across the United States celebrated and honored the memory of the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice serving their country.

At historical Nance Farms Veteran Memorial, DeSoto Mayor Rachel Proctor delivered a proclamation to the many veterans in attendance as well as residents and city council members.

Memorial Day serves is a reminder of the cost of freedom and the valor of those who have defended it.

Rolanda Bigham, the city’s Art, Culture, and Heritage Manager recited a heartfelt poem that left many in attendance deeply moved and reflective.
