As Hurricane Beryl hammers Texas, the DeSoto Fire Department In preparation for the hurricane has mobilized one of its reserve fire engines and four personnel to the coast.
This deployment is part of the Texas Interstate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), a coordinated effort to provide mutual aid during emergencies.
The DeSoto team will join a strike team that includes fire departments from Arlington, Midlothian, Grand Prairie, Fort Worth, and College Station.
This collective response bolsters firefighting capabilities and ensures readiness as Hurricane Beryl approaches.
In addition to the fire engine deployment, DeSoto Fire has sent one firefighter to join Cedar Hill’s AMBUS, an oversized ambulance capable of transporting more than ten patients at a time.
This assignment is part of the Emergency Medical Task Force (EMTF), which also includes members from Duncanville and Cedar Hill.
The AMBUS is specifically designed for large-scale medical emergencies, allowing for efficient patient care and transport during critical situations.
These deployments highlight the collaborative efforts and mutual support among Texas fire departments and emergency medical services.
