The city of DeSoto continues to provide updates on the four firefighters along with a reserve engine that was deployed in anticipation of Hurricane Beryl.

The team, consisting of fire crews from Arlington, Midlothian, Grand Prairie, Ft. Worth, and College Station, was temporarily based in Houston.

On Friday, July 12, firefighters from DeSoto Fire Rescue assisted residents in Freeport and Surfside Beach, two of the hardest-hit areas, with damage assessments.

The deployment, which is part of the Texas Interstate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), also included a DeSoto Fire representative working.

That representative works alongside firefighters from Cedar Hill and Duncanville on Cedar Hill’s high-capacity AMBUS, which can accommodate up to ten patients.

Typically, deployments such as these last up to 14 days.
