In partnership with DeSoto Parks and Recreation and the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, the City of DeSoto announced the “Being Dope 5-Day Workshop.”

The workshop is designed for high school students entering the 2024-2025 school year.

 The event, spearheaded by Mayor Rachel Proctor, promises an engaging and educational experience centered around career exploration.

The workshop is scheduled to take place from Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26, at the Corner Theatre located.

Each day, the sessions will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering students a robust agenda filled with learning opportunities and interactive activities.

The highlight of the week is a pitch competition on Thursday, July 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., where participants will have the chance to present their ideas and compete for a grand prize of $1,000.

This competition aims to foster entrepreneurial spirit and provide a platform for students to showcase their creativity and business acumen.

Tickets for the workshop are priced at $20 and can be purchased online via the link provided on the event’s promotional materials.
