To celebrate the beginning of the new academic year, Adelle Turner Elementary School received a generous donation of school supplies from the Dallas Mavericks.
With smiles all around from parents, faculty, and students, the event featured appearances by former Dallas Mavericks legend Rolando Blackmon and Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall.
Students were also warmly welcomed by Dallas Mavericks cheerleaders, MavsMan, the Mavs ManiAACs, the D-Town Crew, and the beloved mascot, Champ.
“I like it, I really, really like it; it’s exciting,” Roslyn Brown told The DeSoto Tribune about the Mavericks’ visit.
Brown, who enrolled her son at Adelle Turner this school year, expressed her appreciation for the event.
“It’s good for the kids, and I’m glad they took time out of their busy schedules to come here and do this. It’s a positive influence for the kids,” Brown added.
She noted that she chose Adelle Turner for its strong reputation as a good school.
The Mavericks’ donation of school supplies represents a significant commitment to Adelle Turner Elementary through the multi-year Adopt-A-School program.
This program invests in resources and supplies and provides training, volunteers, and mentorship from the Mavericks organization.
Additionally, the program collaborates with school leadership to develop a shared vision for creating an inclusive and diverse school environment.
This partnership is a key component of the Mavs Take ACTION! plan, which aims to address racial inequities, promote social justice, and foster sustainable change in North Texas.
