DeSoto Opens Applications for Mayor’s Internship Program

The City of DeSoto has officially opened the application window for its 2024-2025 Mayor’s Internship Program.

The program is designed to support job placement and create a learning environment for students, aligning with the Learning Environment pillar of the city’s Strategic Plan.

The program, which is led by Mayor Rachel L. Proctor, seeks to provide valuable work experience to high school juniors, seniors, and college students.

The internship program offers positions in two sessions: Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer, with five spots available per session.

High school students must be currently enrolled to qualify, while college students must be actively pursuing a degree at a college or university.

New interns, whether in high school or college, are required to complete 20 volunteer hours before starting their paid internship.

The internship is a paid internship and high school interns will earn $15 per hour for up to 80 hours within the session, while college interns are eligible for $15 per hour for up to 150 hours.

Returning interns, who have previously completed the program, can earn $15 or more per hour for up to 200 hours.

To ensure a productive experience, the program mandates a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week for high school students and 20 hours per week for college students.

The application period is currently open, and interested students are encouraged to apply to take advantage of this unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the DeSoto community.

Don’t miss out!
