Several construction projects, known as capital improvement projects (CIP), are currently underway throughout the City of DeSoto.

These CIP projects are aimed at fixing and enhancing infrastructure and community amenities around the city.

The projects have received approval from the DeSoto City Council and are in various stages of development, with detailed updates provided to keep residents informed.

Shoreline Drive Streambank Stabilization
The Shoreline Drive Streambank Stabilization project was approved by the City Council on May 7, 2024, and began construction on July 8, 2024.

The project is currently 5% complete and the Initial work, including clearing and grubbing, along with the removal of existing storm lines and a flume, has been finished.

Construction is now focused on installing a gabion mattress and gabion baskets at Drop Structure #2.

The primary gabion structure and Drop Structure #1 are still pending. The project is expected to be completed by October 9, 2024.

Methodist Care Center Streambank Stabilization
Work on the Methodist Care Center Streambank Stabilization project began on June 4, 2024, following City Council approval on February 6, 2024.

So far, a water tie-in on Academy Way has been completed and contractors are currently grading the site and trenching a new 12-inch water main line.

All major construction sections remain to be completed, with an anticipated project completion date of August 6, 2024.

Lake Grove Lane Streambank Stabilization
The Lake Grove Lane Streambank Stabilization Project is slated to begin on September 2, 2024, and was approved by the City Council on June 18, 2024.

Construction has not yet started, no items have been completed, and no work is currently underway. The project is expected to be completed by November 4, 2024.

McCowan Park – Recreation and Aquatic Center
The McCowan Park Recreation and Aquatic Center project was approved on May 7, 2024, with construction having started on July 15, 2024.

Initial work includes the completion of a water tie-in on Academy Way and current efforts focus on grading the site and trenching for a new 12-inch water main line.

This project aims to significantly upgrade community recreation facilities and is slated for completion by February 2026.
