Cowboys Down Raiders in Las Vegas | Trey Lance Shines in Win

LAS VEGAS – In an exciting preseason clash marred by squabbles at joint practices, the Dallas Cowboys emerged victorious against the Las Vegas Raiders 27-12 win on Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium.

The game showcased the Cowboys’ depth and potential as they gear up for the regular season.

Quarterback Trey Lance, who played the final three quarters, was a standout performer for the Cowboys.

Lance completed 15 of 23 passes for 151 yards in the Cowboys win in Las Vegas.

His performance was a significant step forward, as Dallas continues to trim roster spots before the start of the regular season.

One highlight of the night came just before halftime as kicker Brandon Aubrey made a 66-yard field goal which sent the Cowboys sideline into a frenzy.

The Cowboys’ defense also made a strong impression, with cornerback Kemon Hall intercepting a pass and returning it 69 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

This play was a turning point, solidifying the Cowboys’ lead and dampening the Raiders’ hopes of a comeback.

On the Raiders’ side, the quarterback competition remains unresolved.

Both Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew had opportunities to impress, but neither could definitively claim the starting role.

O’Connell completed 14 of 20 passes for 96 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while Minshew struggled, completing 10 of 21 passes for 95 yards.

After the game Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, particularly highlighting Lance’s growth.

“I thought we improved today and it started with Trey,” said McCarthy.

“He just needs to continue to play, he just needs reps. He needs to play in live games, particularly in the drop-back phase because he’s done a very good job managing everything else. So I thought he clearly took a step today.”

As the preseason progresses, the Cowboys will look to build on this momentum, while the Raiders face tough decisions regarding their starting quarterback.

The Cowboys will host the Chargers next at AT&T Stadium on Aug. 24.

Kick-off is set for 3 p.m.
