The DeSoto High School Class of 1974 is set to celebrate its 50th reunion on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Double Tree Hotel at Love Field.
The event will mark half a century since these alumni walked the halls as students, offering a chance for classmates to reconnect and reminisce about their shared history.
The Class of 1974 has a long tradition of staying connected, having held well-attended reunions every five years since graduation.
“Ever since graduating, the class of 1974 has remained close. We have had well attended reunions every 5 years since graduating,” said Alumni Cheryl Gibson.
Their bond is evident not only in these regular gatherings but also in the lasting contributions they have made to the DeSoto community.
Notably, the Paul S. Dryer Nature Preserve at Windmill Hill is named in honor of one of their classmates, and the class is also responsible for the beautiful tile entryway Eagle mural at DeSoto High School, a gift they contributed when the building was constructed.
As the reunion draws near, the Class of 1974 looks forward to coming together once again, celebrating not just their past, but the future they continue to build together.
The event will be a testament to the enduring spirit of the class of 1974 community and the lasting impact of the bonds formed within it.
“The vast majority of us have stayed close throughout the years. Basically, we’re still all up in each other’s business,” said Gibson.
“And many of our class has been together since the 1st grade of a graduating class of about 180, We are expecting around 122 attendees,” Gibson added.
