This Saturday, Aug. 31, back-to-back Class 6A Division II State Champions the DeSoto Eagles kicks off the 2024-25 season against out-of-state opponent the Creekside Seminoles.

The Eagles have dominated Div. II football and stand-alone top of the Texas high school football world and are looking to defend their crown against district foes.

In the 2023-24 campaign, the Creekside Seminoles went 13-2, having lost one game in the regular season to top-ranked Mater Die.

DeSoto, on the other hand, went undefeated in the regular season and in the playoffs putting up high scores game after game.

The Eagles put up a record 74-14 against Humble Summer Creek in the 6A Div 11 State title game breaking the 6A scoring record previously held by Allen Eagles.

DeSoto will look a bit different in the roster this season as seniors DJ Baily and Marvin Duffey have moved on to attend college.

DeSoto has plenty of star power as senior running back Deondre Riden Jr. returns to the backfield.

Fans are eagerly anticipating this clash of titans, with many expecting a high-scoring and thrilling game.

The match will be held at DeSoto’s home stadium, and a large turnout is expected to support the Eagles as they embark on their journey to defend their state title.
