It was business as usual for the back-to-back Texas 6A Division II Champions the DeSoto Eagles as they dismantled the Georgia 5A state runner-up Creekside Seminoles 70-0.
In a stunning display of dominance, the Eagles opened the 2024-25 season soaring to victory over the Seminoles.
The game, held on Aug. 31st in DeSoto, showcased just how much the Eagles’ offensive and defensive strength can dominate their opponents.
Quarterback Kelden Ryan led the charge, completing 12 of 21 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns.
He also added two rushing touchdowns, demonstrating his dual-threat capabilities.
Returning star running back Deondrae Riden Jr. continued his reign in the backfield garnering 103 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.
Standout wide receiver Daylon Singleton also picked up where he left off last season hauling in four catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
By halftime, DeSoto led the Seminoles 49-0.
DeSoto’s defense was equally impressive, holding Creekside to just 114 total yards and forcing three turnovers.
The Eagles’ relentless pressure resulted in four sacks, including a pick-six, stifling any offensive momentum the Seminoles attempted to build.
The dominant win is reminiscent of last year’s state title win over Humble Summer Creek, defeating the Bulldogs 71-14 to win their second consecutive state championship.
The statement win sets a high bar for DeSoto as they aim to defend their Texas 6A Division II state championship title.
The Eagles’ next challenge will be against top-15 Texas foe North Crowley, who defeated Lancaster over the weekend.
