Vesper Energy Withdraws Zoning Application

As of September 27, 2024, Vesper Energy has officially withdrawn its application to rezone a property located on the west side of South Westmoreland Road, south of Eagle Drive, in DeSoto.

The rezoning request, which was intended to develop an energy storage facility, has been withdrawn according to an email sent by a representative of the company to the city.

Councilmember for place two, Pierette Parker, shared the news in a social media post.

The zoning application, labeled Case Z-1529-24, involved a proposed amendment to the property’s zoning designation from a single-family residential district.

It was for a planned development to allow the construction of a high-voltage bulk power substation and energy storage facility.

As a result of the withdrawal, public hearings that were scheduled to take place on October 8, and November 19, 2024, have been canceled.

The meetings were scheduled to take place before the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Residents across the city and in the Hampton Meadows area are now advised that the city will not proceed with discussions regarding this zoning case.
