DALLAS – After more than six years of leadership, Cynt Marshall, Chief Executive Officer of the Dallas Mavericks, will step down from her role at the end of 2024.
The Mavericks announced that Marshall will officially retire as CEO on December 31, 2024, while continuing to serve as a consultant for the organization until December 2025.
Marshall joined the Mavericks in 2018, quickly becoming a transformative figure within the franchise and across the greater Dallas community.
Her leadership is widely credited with overhauling the Mavericks’ workplace culture, and establishing new standards for inclusion, transparency, and corporate responsibility.
Among her notable achievements was the development of a 100-day plan designed to shift the organization’s culture.
Marshall’s implementation of the plan resulted in the Mavericks becoming one of the most diverse and inclusive teams in professional sports.
“Cynt Marshall is a force of nature. I like to say her superpower is bringing people together, but the truth is she has many superpowers,” said Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont.
“Cynt has always gone above and beyond in everything she has done, and her leadership of the Dallas Mavericks is no exception. She is an indelible fixture in the history of this franchise, and we are eternally grateful. The positive impact she has had here will be felt for a very long time.”
During her tenure, Marshall spearheaded initiatives that expanded the Mavericks’ community outreach.
Under her guidance, the franchise increased its efforts in education, health, and economic empowerment programs, solidifying its role as a community partner.
She also played a critical role in the launch of the “Mavs Take ACTION!” program, aimed at promoting social justice and supporting underserved populations in the Dallas area.
Beyond her impact within the organization, Marshall has been a visible advocate for women’s empowerment and gender equity in sports.
The Mavericks’ partnership with the Dallas Wings and the GEM (Girls Empowered by Mavericks) program stand as examples of her commitment to these causes.
Marshall’s tenure also saw the Mavericks and their foundation garner several awards, recognizing their leadership in inclusion and community engagement.
Her contributions to the sports industry and her influence as a leader have earned her numerous honors, including mentions in Forbes and Fortune for her leadership and advocacy.
Marshall’s departure marks the end of an era for the Mavericks, but her influence will continue to shape both the organization and the community for years to come.
