The DeSoto Eagles are soaring high after delivering a commanding performance on Friday night, defeating the Horn High School Jaguars 65-24.
Held at Eagle Stadium in DeSoto, DeSoto got back on the winning track after losing to Duncanville last week.
The Eagles’ running game was unstoppable, with their senior star running back, Deondrae Riden Jr. rushing for 120 yards and three touchdowns.
Sophomore Myson Johnson-Cook contributed 80 yards just off of 10 carries with a pair of touchdowns.
Senior quarterback Kelden Ryan threw for 198 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Eagles forced one turnover and held the Jaguars to 24 points.
The Jaguars gave the Eagles a fight but came up short.
Horn quarterback C.J. Daughtry completed 18 of 34 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown
Jr. running back Abu Kamara added 79 yards on the ground and a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Eagles’ defense.
With the victory, DeSoto improves to 5-2, while Horn falls to 1-6 on the season.
Next up DeSoto won’t have to travel far as they take on cross-town rivals Cedar Hill in the Battle of Beltline.
Kick-off starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25.
