PLANO, TEXAS – Last week, the Dallas Mavericks and their partner ShiftKey brought Halloween joy to young patients at Children’s Medical Center Plano.

Delivering smiles, treats, and Mavs gear to children, the Mavericks brought the Halloween spirit to those who couldn’t celebrate outside the hospital.

The special visit included Mavs players Dwight Powell, Quentin Grimes, and Maxi Kleber, as well as the team’s mascot Champ, the ManiAACs, and the D-Town Crew.

For many of the children, the Halloween-themed visit was a bright moment in their hospital stay, filled with candy, festive goodies, and unique Mavs-themed gifts.

“It’s great [being in the community],” said Grimes.

“I did it through my first three years in the league, so I kind of try to make it a staple to be present around the holidays. Just giving back to people who kind of look up to us, in a sense, and put a smile on kids’ faces honestly means everything.”

The players and Mavs entertainment team went room to room, sharing words of encouragement and bringing an uplifting spirit to the pediatric patients and healthcare staff.

This act of kindness is part of the Mavericks’ ongoing community outreach efforts with ShiftKey, aimed at making a positive impact across North Texas.

Beyond just Halloween, the Mavericks and ShiftKey have several initiatives planned for the season, focusing on supporting both patients and healthcare workers.

This partnership will include additional hospital visits, as the team continues its commitment to giving back and connecting with the community in meaningful ways.

For the patients at Children’s Medical Center Plano, the visit was more than just a Halloween treat—it was a chance to experience the joy and excitement of a holiday that might otherwise have been missed.

“It’s super important to come out here for me, especially Children’s Health, to see the smiles on their faces, and to be able to share even a couple small moments with them,” said Powell.

“These kids are going through real adversity. They’re facing real challenges. We all have challenges and adversity we face in life and being able to see these kids in this environment, it’s something that we can look up to and realize these kids are really fighting. To be able to share a moment of joy with them is such a blessing.”

Don’t miss out!
