PALM BEACH, FLORIDA – In a return to the White House, Donald Trump won the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election over current Vice President Kamala Harris late Tuesday night.
Securing a second term four years after losing to President Joe Biden, Trump won key battleground states including Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.
Trump also won both the electoral college vote and the popular vote, something that hasn’t been done since George H. W. Bush won the 1988 election over Michael S. Dukakis.
Trumps return to the White House signals a new chapter in American politics as his administration prepares to address key issues facing the nation.
In his victory speech Trump spoke of a “mandate for change,” citing strong support from the American people and promising a “golden age of America.”
Trump also credited his running mate, Senator JD Vance, for bringing his message to new audiences.
The election saw a high-stakes battle not only for the presidency but also for control of Congress.
Republicans are projected to regain the Senate, having secured critical wins in Ohio, West Virginia, and Nebraska and keep control of the House of Representatives.
This shift could give Trump a stronger legislative hand, particularly as his platform includes measures anticipated to reshape U.S. domestic and foreign policies.
Early voter turnout was reported as robust, with particularly high engagement in battleground states where political divides were most pronounced.
Trump is only the second U.S. president to regain the office after losing it.
With Republicans projected to regain the Senate and keep control of the House of Representatives it remains to be seen if Trump will be able to implement the policies that he campaigned on.
