DeSoto Police arrested a man after a call from a concerned citizen about suspicious activity came in.
The incident took place around 5:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Windy Meadow Drive on Dec. 1.
A concerned citizen call led to the arrest of a man suspected of suspicious activity on Windy Meadow Drive.
The suspect, a DeSoto resident was observed “walking up and down the sidewalk looking into vehicles,” prompting suspicions of potential theft, according to police.
DeSoto Police responded and deployed a support drone to locate the individual and spotted the suspect entering the backyard of an unknown residence.
When Officers from the Alpha and Charlie shifts arrived on the scene, within minutes they confronted the man as he emerged from behind the home.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Juan Macias Tovar, resisted officers’ attempts to detain him, resulting in a physical altercation.
During the altercation, a large knife fell from Tovar’s jacket police said. Officers then subdued Tovar and took him into custody.
Tovar was arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with resisting arrest or search, a Class-A misdemeanor.
DeSoto Police credited the quick response and teamwork of the officers involved, as well as the vigilance of the citizen who reported the suspicious activity.
Authorities believe the tip may have prevented potential burglary or theft in the neighborhood.
