The Dallas Stars secured a 4-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night at the American Airlines Center, extending their unbeaten streak to five games.

Roope Hintz led the Stars with two goals, bringing his season total to a team-high 18.

Hintz opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 4:39 of the first period, redirecting a pass from Jason Robertson.

After the Senators responded with two quick goals from Brady Tkachuk and Ridly Greig, Hintz netted the go-ahead goal midway through the second period, capitalizing on an Ottawa turnover.

Captain Jamie Benn contributed to the comeback with a goal in the second period, tying the game at 2-2.

Matt Duchene added an insurance goal in the third period, assisted by Wyatt Johnston, who, along with Robertson, recorded two assists on the night.

The Stars’ defense limited the Senators to 13 shots on goal while goaltender Jake Oettinger made 11 saves, including a crucial stop against Shane Pinto early in the third period.

The Senators, who had a strong December with a 9-3-1 record, struggled to generate offense and went 0-for-4 on the power play.

Tkachuk, who had a goal and an assist, acknowledged the team’s difficulties.

The Stars (23-13-1) will look to continue their momentum as they host the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday.
