In celebration of Black History Month, the Dallas Mavericks, in partnership with AT&T, have launched the 2025 Black History Month Art Contest.

The contest is open to North Texas students in grades 8–12 and encourages young artists to explore Black history and the evolution of Black culture in the arts through various eras.

The submission deadline is Feb. 9.

Students are invited to create visual art that reflects the theme and submit their entries digitally.

A selection committee will evaluate the submissions based on their relevance to the theme, originality, creativity, and educational value.

The contest offers an exceptional opportunity for the top five grand prize winners, who will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C.

While in the nation’s capital, winners will visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture and other historic landmarks.

They will also be honored with a suite experience and on-court recognition during the Mavericks’ Feb. 27 home game.

The winning artworks will also be displayed at the African American Museum of Dallas throughout March and April, showcasing the students’ creativity and unique perspectives.

For more information or to submit an entry, visit the Mavericks’ official website.
