DeSoto 2025 General Election | Key Leadership Roles Up for Vote

As the May 3, 2025, General Election approaches, the City of DeSoto is preparing for a pivotal moment in local governance.

Voters will decide on key leadership positions, including Mayor (Place 1), Councilmember Place 3, and Councilmember Place 5.

The filing period, which opened on Jan. 15, remains active until Feb. 14.

However, several candidates have already announced their intentions to run, setting the stage for competitive races.

Candidates for Mayor – Place 1

Dr. Dinah Marks – A longtime community advocate entering the race with a focus on education and local economic development.

Rachel L. Proctor (Incumbent) – Currently serving as Mayor, Proctor seeks re-election, highlighting her record of fostering business growth and community initiatives.

Candidates for Councilmember – Place 3

Everett Jackson

Candidates for Councilmember – Place 5

Janice Hayes

The candidate filing deadline is Feb. 14 at 5 p.m.
