The City of DeSoto is advancing several major infrastructure projects, including improvements to roadways, drainage, and public amenities.
The projects, spanning from street widening to water and sewer replacements, reflect the city’s commitment to modernization and safety.
Roadway Expansion and Upgrades
Danieldale Road Widening
The city is progressing on the Danieldale Road widening project, which will expand the road to four concrete lanes with a raised median.
The project includes drainage improvements, a new traffic signal at Bolton Boone, and enhanced street lighting.
The design is 90% complete, with right-of-way (ROW) acquisitions ongoing.
Pleasant Run Road Widening
Design for the Pleasant Run Road widening project is complete, and franchise utility relocations are approximately 85% finished.
The project includes a full street expansion, new sidewalks, and updated drainage infrastructure.
Westmoreland Road Widening
The construction plan for Westmoreland Road has been completed and is awaiting funding allocation.
This project will add four lanes, modern drainage systems, and improved pedestrian pathways.
Hampton Road Corridor Redevelopment
The city is also focused on redeveloping Hampton Road into a pedestrian-friendly corridor.
The project includes bike lanes, on-street parking, and landscape medians, but the design phase is currently on hold.
Water, Sewer, and Drainage Improvements
Water, Sewer, and Pavement Renovation – Phase 1A & 1B
The city has opened construction bids for Phase 1A, with contract approval expected on February 18.
Phase 1B, focused on Vince Lane, Red Bud, and Oak Trail, is in its final design stages, with completion expected by March.
Shoreline Drive Drainage Project
A major streambank erosion mitigation project is underway at Shoreline Drive and Beltwoods Drive, with construction expected to be completed by February 28, 2025.
Wolf Creek Estate Drainage Improvements
Flood mitigation plans for Wolf Creek Estate are in the final design stages. The city is working with property owners to secure necessary easements before construction can begin.
Public Facilities and Traffic Enhancements
Aquatic and Recreation Center at McCowan Park
Significant progress has been made on DeSoto’s upcoming Aquatic and Recreation Center. Underground utilities are complete, and pond stabilization efforts have been finalized.
Nance Farm Redevelopment
The historic Nance Farm is set for a major transformation into an artist hub. Restoration of existing structures and the addition of a new building are in the design phase.
Traffic Signal Installations
Several new traffic signals are planned for key intersections, including Parkerville Road at I-35E and Academy Way.
These projects, led by TxDOT and city consultants, are in the early design stages.
Bridge and Pump Station Projects
Pleasant Run Road Bridge Replacement
TxDOT is overseeing the reconstruction of the Pleasant Run Road Bridge at Ten Mile Creek, with preliminary designs in progress.
Westmoreland Road Pump Station Rehabilitation
Upgrades to the Westmoreland Road Pump Station are 90% designed, ensuring improved water pressure and storage capacity for the city.
