Teen Shot after Party in DeSoto | Suspect at Large

A 16-year-old girl was shot twice near a DeSoto residence late Saturday night after attending a large party that had been broken up by police, authorities said.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. on June 8 in the 500 block of Edmonds Way, where officers found the victim in a front yard with non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a local hospital.

Police said the teen had been at a gathering in the 500 block of Buckingham Place before officers dispersed the crowd.

Shortly after, the victim was standing with a group of teens outside a home when an unidentified suspect approached on foot and fired multiple shots, striking her twice.

The shooter may have fled in a dark sedan, according to preliminary reports.

The victim ran from the scene and was later located by police on Edmonds Way.

DeSoto police are requesting residents near the 500 block of Buckingham Place to review their camera security footage for potential evidence related to the incident.

DeSoto detectives are investigating and urge anyone with information to contact them at (469) 658-3050.

A description of the suspect has not yet been released and the investigation remains ongoing.
