The DeSoto Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect involved in a robbery Tuesday evening in what police are calling a “jugging” incident.
According to the DeSoto Police Department, the robbery occurred around 6:20 p.m. on July 1 in the 1000 block of North Polk Street.
Investigators said the suspect followed the victim from a local bank to a nearby convenience store and then robbed the individual at gunpoint.
The suspect fled the scene in a black Dodge truck.
“Jugging” refers to a crime in which a suspect targets victims after they’ve made cash withdrawals from financial institutions or ATMs, then follows and robs them.
Police described the suspect as a light-skinned Black male between the ages of 25 and 30.
He is approximately 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs between 170 and 180 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and black shoes.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
DeSoto Police are urging residents to stay alert when conducting financial transactions, particularly when using ATMs or exiting bank locations.
“Stay vigilant and aware of your surroundings to reduce the risk of becoming a target,” the department said in a statement.
Anyone with information about the suspect or vehicle is asked to contact DeSoto Police Detectives at (469) 658-3050.
