AUSTIN, Texas — Planet Fitness franchisees across Texas, including Excel Fitness, are donating a combined $100,000 to support families affected by the recent catastrophic floods in the Texas Hill Country.
Excel Fitness, which operates 80 Planet Fitness clubs across the state, including 58 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, 12 in Austin, five in Waco/Killeen, and five others, has committed $40,000 as part of the relief effort. Each participating franchise group is donating $500 per club.
The joint donation also includes contributions from Taymax Group, Black Duck Partners, The Maddox Group, Planet Fitness of El Paso, Texas, Las Cruces, New Mexico, Houston Fitness Partners, and United Fitness Partners.
The funds will support relief efforts following historic flash flooding that struck the Hill Country between July 4 and 7.
Torrential rains caused the Guadalupe River to surge more than 35 feet, resulting in one of the deadliest inland floods in U.S. history.
Kerr County alone reported more than 100 deaths, including several children attending summer camps.
Widespread destruction forced hundreds of rescues, left dozens missing, and caused billions of dollars in damage across Kerrville, Ingram, Hunt, and surrounding areas.
“The devastation in the Texas Hill Country has deeply affected our teams in the area and the communities we serve,” said CJ Bouchard, CEO of Excel Fitness.
“In moments like these, we believe it’s our responsibility to stand together and take action. By joining forces with our fellow Planet Fitness franchisees, we hope this donation offers immediate relief and long-term support to families facing the difficult road ahead. Our hearts are with everyone impacted, and we remain committed to helping the region heal and rebuild.”
Funds will go to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.
The fund provides emergency financial assistance, mental health services and long-term recovery support to residents in Kerr, Ingram, Hunt and surrounding areas.
