The Inspiring Body of Christ Church became hallowed ground on Friday, August 8, 2025, when the Black-Tie Cinematic Symphony delivered a performance that was nothing short of a tear-jerker and truly a performance for the ages.
Bathed in emotion, the evening featured an 80-piece orchestra conducted by master conductor and visionary Leon Lacey, performing among the sacred beauty of IBOC’s stage and outstanding acoustics.
Lacey, whose credits range from Beyoncé and The Clark Sisters to acclaimed film and television scores, wove cinematic grandeur and gospel soul into a transcendent experience.
Gospel icons Yolanda Adams and Israel Houghton, alongside actress Lisa Arrindell and opera singer–songwriter Erika Nicole Johnson, delivered riveting performances suffused with both theatrical dramatic flair and raw spiritual intensity.
It was a night where every note felt personal, and many in the audience were visibly moved, the kind of heartfelt response that stays with you long after the lights turn off.
A highlight came during a deeply moving tribute to Linda Searight, founder of Dallas’s beloved gospel choir God’s Property, a moment where orchestral swells and emotional vocals converged, bringing applause and cheers.
The evening’s elegance began long before the first chord as guests walked the Black Carpet.
Inside, interactive experiences set the stage for what would unfold.
Lacey’s fusion of worship, film-score-swept orchestration, and cinematic storytelling ushers in a new era of symphonic performance that transcends tradition, captivating audiences with both spiritual depth and cinematic grandeur
Now, with its Dallas chapter complete, the Black-Tie Cinematic Symphony tour moves onward to enthrall audiences next in Brooklyn, West Los Angeles Church, The Valley, and concluding in Atlanta.
