DeSoto will spotlight local talent later this month as the city hosts the 4th Annual DeSoto Artist Lab Showcase Festival at DeSoto Town Center on Saturday, Sept. 20.
The free, family-friendly event runs from noon to 7 p.m. and will feature a full day of live performances, vendors, and interactive art activities.
Organizers say the festival has become a signature cultural event, bringing residents and visitors together to celebrate the city’s creative spirit.
“This event is a reflection of what makes DeSoto special — our diversity, our talent, and our deep love for community,” Mayor Rachel L. Proctor said.
“We’re proud to provide a free, family-friendly space where people of all ages can come together to celebrate the arts and one another.”
The Amphitheater stage opens at 1 p.m. with a lineup that includes the Woodridge Elementary Performance Choir, Spanish dancer Daniel de Cordoba, spoken word artists Alex Tha Great and King Shakur, and music by saxophonist Alex Allen and cellist Najeeb Sabour.
Headliner Taylor Morgan, a Dallas native who has opened for Erykah Badu, Raheem DeVaughn and Stephanie Mills, will take the stage at 3:30 p.m.
Known for her soulful sound and dynamic presence, Morgan is expected to draw one of the day’s largest audiences.
At 5 p.m., the festivities shift indoors to the Corner Theatre, where encore performances and a more intimate showcase of spoken word, mime, and music will close the evening.
The final act, Percussion Things, will cap off the festival with a high-energy performance.
Beyond the stage, attendees will find local arts and crafts vendors, food, and interactive activities for children.
City officials said the event is designed to highlight the city’s thriving creative community while encouraging residents to connect with artists and community leaders.
