Former Lancaster High School Assistant Band Director Dashawn Parks
LANCASTER, Texas — A Lancaster High School assistant band director was arrested Friday, Oct. 10, on a felony charge of indecency with a child, according to Lancaster ISD and local law enforcement.
In an email to parents on Oct. 11, the district identified the staff member as Dashawn Parks and confirmed he was taken into custody following a criminal investigation conducted by the Lancaster ISD Police Department.
“Lancaster High School Assistant Band Director, Dashawn Parks, was arrested on Friday, October 10, and has been charged with indecency with a child following a criminal investigation conducted by the Lancaster ISD Police Department,” the district said in its written statement. “Lancaster ISD immediately reported the situation to law enforcement and has fully cooperated throughout the investigation.”
The district said Parks has been placed on administrative leave and is barred from all school campuses pending the outcome of the case. Officials said families directly affected by the situation have already been contacted by the district.
“We understand this news is extremely unsettling,” the message continued. “I want to assure you that Lancaster ISD immediately reported the situation to law enforcement and has fully cooperated throughout the investigation.”
Police have not released additional details about the alleged offense, including whether it involved a student. The investigation remains active, and no further charges have been announced as of Monday.
Indecency with a child is a felony offense under Texas law that can carry significant prison time and mandatory sex-offender registration if convicted.
Lancaster ISD emphasized that student safety remains its top priority and that counselors and support resources are available for students and families who may need assistance.
