DeSoto’s Artist Lab Residency Program is returning for its fifth year, offering local and regional creatives a paid opportunity to develop new work while engaging directly with the community.
Applications are now open through Jan. 9, 2026, for up to 10 residency spots.
The program, managed by the City of DeSoto’s Arts, Culture & Heritage division, provides artists with residency periods ranging from one to six months, depending on project scope and selected proposals.
The residency includes a stipend, collaborative opportunities with city departments, local businesses, or community organizations, and built-in public engagement experiences.
City officials describe the program as a platform for meaningful creative work that reflects DeSoto’s culture, energy and diverse community.
Organizers encourage applications from artists across all disciplines, including visual art, music, film, performance, murals, and multi-disciplinary work. Solo artists and creative teams are eligible to apply.
Only 10 artists will be selected through a competitive review process, and applicants are encouraged to submit strong proposals with clear community impact.
Questions about the residency can be directed to Rolanda Brigham, DeSoto’s Arts, Culture & Heritage Manager, at RBrigham@desototexas.gov.
Applications are available now, and selected artists will begin their residency terms in 2026.
