DALLAS — Dr. Froswa’ Booker has earned national recognition for her newest book, Front Porch Wisdom: Navigating Leadership Pressures and Barriers as a Woman of Color, which received the 2025 ECPA Top Shelf Book Cover Award in the nonfiction category.
The honor, presented annually by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association, highlights excellence in book and Bible design across four categories: Bibles, Children’s, Fiction and Nonfiction.
Released in June by InterVarsity Press, Front Porch Wisdom features a cover conceptualized by Booker and designed by Jeff Miller.
Booker said the recognition reflects the personal meaning behind the book’s visual design.
“I’m elated that Front Porch Wisdom has received this prestigious award. The cover of the book is the visual demonstration of what the book means to me,” she said.
The design centers on a silhouette of a woman, a choice Booker said was intentional from the start.
“I knew that I wanted a silhouette of a woman. She was to capture the essence of someone that we could all relate to — and not just me,” Booker said. “I also knew that I wanted her to be the representation of wisdom, along with the color to exude femininity.”
ECPA judges described the cover as one of the strongest entries of the year, citing its balanced typography and unexpectedly fresh color palette.
Since its June 17 release, Front Porch Wisdom has become a best seller across multiple Amazon categories.
Readers have connected with its exploration of leadership, identity and faith, especially women of color navigating nonprofit, corporate and community leadership roles.
The book examines workplace pressures that disproportionately affect women of color and offers practical tools for growth based on Booker’s lived experience.
Booker credited InterVarsity Press with bringing her vision to life. “InterVarsity Press did an amazing job with taking a concept and making it a reality,” she said. “They have been amazing partners in bringing my vision to life.”
The award adds to Booker’s growing influence as an author, professor and thought leader.
