The Artis Event Center hosted its Q4 Black Tie Gala on Dec. 6, drawing community leaders, elected officials and business partners for an evening focused on civic leadership, collaboration and DeSoto’s growing profile as a destination for high-end events.
The formal gala transformed the DeSoto venue into a black-tie setting featuring curated décor, professional lighting, a full dinner service and a structured awards program.
The event also served as a showcase for the center’s capacity to host large-scale, premium gatherings.
The Artis Event Center is led by Eric Lockhart and Jessica Brewer, an uncle-and-niece team who opened the venue with the goal of expanding DeSoto’s event offerings.
Organizers said the gala was designed to demonstrate how locally owned venues can support economic growth while elevating the city’s reputation in southern Dallas County.

Several individuals and organizations were recognized during the evening for contributions to civic life and community development.
The Community Champion Award was presented by Royce Colley, known as The Gentleman Builder, to Dominique Alexander and Damon Crenshaw of Next Generation Action Network for their advocacy and community engagement efforts.
The Civic Excellence Award was presented by Dr. Sonia Smith of Mint Dentistry to Letitia Hughes and Rachel L. Proctor, recognizing their leadership and service to the City of DeSoto.
The Visionary Development Award was presented by Tim Maiden of Comerica Bank to Peter Brodsky and Terrence Glen Maiden for their work in development and investment.
The gala also highlighted a $10,000 charitable contribution resulting from a partnership between Real Estate 360 and Vision Truck Driving School.
The organizations selected Vision Highway of Hope as their nonprofit partner for the year, supporting programs focused on workforce development and community stability.
Organizers said the collaboration reflected the event’s broader theme of aligning local leadership, business investment and nonprofit service to create long-term community impact.
As the evening concluded, speakers emphasized the role of locally owned venues in shaping DeSoto’s future.
The Artis Event Center has positioned itself as a site for galas, corporate functions and civic celebrations, adding to the city’s growing portfolio of event and meeting spaces.
The Q4 Black Tie Gala marked the venue’s largest formal event to date and underscored DeSoto’s continued efforts to attract investment, partnerships and high-profile gatherings.
