As Texas gears up for the upcoming Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8, the city of DeSoto is also making preparations for its residents to view the occultation.
Four Parks in the city have been designated as official viewing sites for people wishing to get a view of the total solar eclipse.
These four parks will be open from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M., offering residents a safe and enjoyable eclipse-watching experience.
Ernie Roberts Park, Zeiger Park, Curtistene McCowan Park, and Grimes Park are the selected locations where residents can safely enjoy and view the eclipse.
The parks are equipped with limited amenities, including picnic areas, benches, pavilions, and ADA-accessible parking.
Residents are encouraged to wear their approved eclipse safety glasses to enjoy this rare astronomical event safely.
In addition to the parks’ viewing events, the DeSoto Public Library is hosting educational activities and crafts related to the solar eclipse from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M.
Space is limited for these activities and will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
