The DeSoto Independent School District is getting ready to host a student job fair at DeSoto High School to help prepare students for the real world.
The job fair will take place on May 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and lists a host of job opportunities for students to apply to.
Ahead of the event, district teachers and leaders are working with students to help equip them with job readiness skills, including interview preparation and resume development.
The job fair aims to connect students with employment opportunities in three distinct capacities such as summer employment, longer-term employment, and post-graduation opportunities.
The DeSoto High School Career & Technical Education department is spearheading efforts to enlist employers interested in participating in the fair and potentially hiring students for various positions.
The positions include summer roles, part-time year-round employment, full-time positions for graduating seniors, or paid internships.
DeSoto High School offers a diverse array of programs of study, and the district is seeking employers in the following prospective areas to engage with students.
These programs cover a broad spectrum of industries, ranging from Animal Science and Welding to Audio/Video Technology & Digital Audio Technology, Graphic Design & Animation, Business Management, Finance, & Marketing, Culinary Arts, Automotive, Programming & Software Development Engineering, Teaching & Training, Cosmetology, Health Science, and Law & Public Service.
