DeSoto ISD Starts New School Year with Clear Backpack Policy

As a new academic year begins, DeSoto ISD continued its outreach to the community having walked door-to-door in the summertime to build relationships with residents.

For the new year, DEISD has implemented new policies such as requiring clear backpacks to help enhance student safety.

The move requires all students in grades 6 through 12 to use clear backpacks.

This decision comes as part of the district’s ongoing efforts to ensure a secure learning environment for its scholars.

The new policy mandates that only clear backpacks will be allowed on campus, making it easier for school staff to monitor and prevent the introduction of prohibited items.

DeSoto ISD officials believe this measure will significantly contribute to the safety and well-being of students and staff alike.

To support this initiative, DeSoto ISD has introduced branded clear backpacks, which are now available for purchase online.

These backpacks feature the school district’s crest and are designed to meet the new policy requirements while promoting school spirit.

The district encourages parents and students to purchase these backpacks to ensure compliance with the new regulations.

The decision to implement clear backpacks follows a series of safety assessments and consultations with parents, teachers, and security experts.

The policy is also aimed at enhancing the relationship between DEISD and parents in the community.

“Relationships are the core of our ability to serve our families and scholars effectively,” said DeSoto ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Usamah Rodgers.

“Relationships are the means by which we will build trust and connection to create partnerships with our families to build a village of well-rounded covering and partnership to fully serve our scholars.”

Parents and students can find more information about the new policy and purchase the approved backpacks on the DeSoto ISD website.
