Stewart was honored at the annual statewide teacher celebration at the Frontier Flight Museum in Dallas and the first selection for the district.

Stewart was selected from a pool of 126 applicants.

Her recognition stems from her exceptional commitment to students with special needs and her innovative approach to education.

Stewart has been lauded for her ability to implement data-driven strategies and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure every child under her care succeeds.

“She truly deserves this because she goes above and beyond for the faculty and the students to be sure that they have what they need to be successful,” said Robinson.

“Ms. Stewart connects with her students, analyzes their needs to see which way they learn best, and then supplies that need in her classroom.”

In addition to her classroom achievements, Stewart has been a strong advocate for inclusive education.

She identified a need for greater support and resources within the community and responded by creating a comprehensive program of professional development sessions, newsletters, and informational materials.

She has facilitated hands-on volunteer opportunities and immersive learning experiences that involve local artists, scientists, and community leaders, enriching her students’ educational journey.

“I congratulate Lauren Stewart and sincerely thank her for all she does to help us to soar higher,” said DeSoto ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Usamah Rodgers.

“This award speaks to the quality of the educators in DeSoto ISD and Ms. Stewart is the embodiment of our district mission to ensure that all students, without exception, learn and grow at their highest levels.”
