The City of DeSoto has updated its fees for health department services, which will take effect on Jan. 1, 2025.
The revised fees will impact various services, including food service permits, temporary food handler permits, inspections, and late payment penalties.
Food Service and Retail Permits
The new fee structure categorizes food service permits by risk level. High-risk permits will cost $400, medium-risk permits $300, and low-risk permits $200.
Temporary and Food Handler Services
For temporary food service operations, permits will cost $35. Food handler cards remain at $10, but the Health Department has removed the food service manager certificate requirement, which was previously $30. Replacing lost food handler cards or certificates will cost $5.
Inspection Fees
Foster homes and boarding homes requiring inspections will each be subject to a $25 fee.
Late Fees
The Health Department has implemented a tiered late fee system. Payments made 15–30 days late will incur a $100 penalty.
Delays between 31–60 days will result in a $150 fee, and payments over 60 days late will cost $200.
Residents and businesses seeking more information about these updates, including food establishment requirements and inspection procedures, are encouraged to visit the City of DeSoto’s website or scan the QR code provided by the Health Department on the flyer.
