DeSoto city leaders have adopted a new ordinance prohibiting certain amusement redemption gaming machines and gambling devices within city limits, according to a public service announcement issued by the city.
The ordinance, identified as Section 8.12, makes it unlawful to maintain, display for patron use or otherwise operate prohibited amusement redemption machines inside businesses throughout the city.
City officials said the ordinance applies to a wide range of establishments, including arcades, bars, restaurants, convenience stores and game rooms that may currently operate machines covered under the new regulation.
Under the ordinance, businesses found in violation could face citations, fines and additional enforcement actions under city code.
The city’s announcement states that any person, firm or corporation operating prohibited devices after the ordinance takes effect may be subject to penalties.
Officials are urging business owners and operators to review their establishments and remove or discontinue the use of any machines that fall under the ordinance’s restrictions.
The ordinance is part of the city’s broader effort to regulate gaming-related activity within DeSoto city limits.
Additional details regarding enforcement and compliance are expected to be handled through the city’s code enforcement and legal processes.
Residents and business owners seeking more information are encouraged to contact the City of DeSoto or review the ordinance through official city channels.
